Traveling Equipment Engineer

Job Summary

Kiewit Equipment Services is seeking an entry-level Traveling Equipment Engineer to support construction and mining operations. The role focuses on fleet planning, maintenance programs, equipment utilization, and reliability improvement across changing work locations.

Project Details

This position supports Kiewit's transportation-related construction operations and equipment fleet. Work may take place in offices, construction sites, and equipment yards across varied locations and conditions.

Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, budget, and monitor construction and mining equipment fleets.
• Develop maintenance documentation, tool and filter lists, inspections, and parts inventories.
• Coordinate equipment logistics, procurement, critical-lift preparation, and related paperwork.
• Use reliability and failure data to improve equipment availability and performance.
• Support maintenance technicians by ordering parts, scheduling crews, managing inventory, and monitoring quality and safety.
• Follow health, safety, environmental, and company requirements while completing specialty projects as assigned.

Required Experience

• Associate or bachelor's degree in diesel or automotive technology, heavy equipment technology, mechanical engineering technology, or construction management.
• Equipment experience and experience with equipment planning, scheduling, and budgeting are preferred.
• Strong organization, communication, time management, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Willingness to travel, relocate, and work in both office and field settings.
• Knowledge of CAD modeling programs is preferred.
• Ability to access construction sites and equipment yards in varied climates and environments.
• Reliable attendance, safe work practices, deadline discipline, and willingness to work overtime and weekends when required.

Compensation and Benefits

Base compensation is $80,000-$90,000 per year. Full-time employees receive medical, dental, vision, wellness, employee assistance, life and disability insurance, retirement matching, and paid time off.
