Job Summary

Kiewit is seeking a traveling Civil Field Engineer to connect office engineering functions with day-to-day heavy civil construction operations. The position supports safe, efficient, and quality-focused project delivery across changing jobsite locations.

Project Details

The Eastern District delivers transportation and other heavy civil work, including bridges, transit, foundations, tunnels, water and wastewater facilities, structural concrete, steel erection, earthwork, pile driving, caissons, and selected energy projects throughout the Northeast.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret plans and specifications, support field layout and surveying, and track installed quantities and as-built information.
  • Prepare work plans, job hazard analyses, material takeoffs, purchase documentation, schedules, daily records, RFIs, and project correspondence.
  • Coordinate crews, deliveries, subcontractors, and field operations while supporting safety meetings, inspections, and training.
  • Assist with cost tracking, labor records, change orders, submittals, technical calculations, and project reporting.
  • Provide field supervision and help maintain communication between project management, craft teams, vendors, agencies, and customers.

Required Experience

  • At least three years of construction field experience and prior engineering or engineer-leadership experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related discipline.
  • Ability to interpret engineering plans, specifications, and contract documents and identify discrepancies.
  • Strong communication, organization, initiative, judgment, teamwork, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to access active construction areas in varied climates and work overtime or weekends as project needs require.

Compensation and Benefits

Base compensation is $90,000/yr - $120,000/yr, subject to factors including education, experience, skills, and location. Full-time employees receive medical, dental, vision, wellness, employee assistance, life and disability insurance, retirement matching, and paid time off.
