Job Summary

Kiewit is hiring a mid-level Underground Transmission Engineer for its Power Delivery Engineering team in Portland. The role supports engineering design and EPC execution for underground and submarine transmission and distribution projects across North America.

Project Details

Projects span 12kV to 500kV transmission and distribution systems, including underground lines, duct banks, riser structures, and horizontal directional drilling. The team serves electric utility, renewable energy, industrial, and related power markets.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and review design deliverables, calculations, drawings, material lists, specifications, estimates, and schedules.
  • Evaluate design alternatives, coordinate with clients and project stakeholders, and support safe construction execution.
  • Conduct field visits to confirm routing conditions and project parameters.
  • Coordinate with contractors, regulators, municipal officials, manufacturers, and internal project teams.
  • Support project activities including proposals, cost estimating, subcontract management, feasibility studies, construction support, inspections, testing, and close-out.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or an equivalent discipline.
  • At least three years of relevant engineering experience and EIT licensure or eligibility in the United States.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments, communicate effectively, collaborate in teams, and meet schedule and budget requirements.
  • Experience with engineering software such as SAP2000, RISA 3D, SAFE, Civil 3D, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or MathCAD is beneficial.
  • Geotechnical engineering and survey experience is a plus.
  • Willingness to work overtime or weekends when required and follow applicable safety and engineering standards.
