Job Summary

Bird Electric Enterprises is seeking a Mechanic Foreman to supervise construction equipment operations and lead crews responsible for maintaining and repairing heavy mobile equipment. This full-time, non-union craft position emphasizes safe, productive, and high-quality field execution.

Project Details

The role supports construction-site equipment operations involving cranes, bulldozers, forklifts, graders, conveyors, and other mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.

Responsibilities

• Direct foremen and craft workers while coordinating equipment repairs, maintenance, and daily production activities.
• Plan weekly work, establish crew goals, coordinate materials and tools, and review timekeeping and phase coding.
• Lead pre-job planning, toolbox meetings, safety communications, accident reporting, and corrective actions.
• Coordinate with other crafts and project supervision, provide worker training, and manage additional craft support when assigned.
• Inspect work and field conditions for compliance with plans, specifications, quality standards, and proper construction procedures.
• Ensure equipment is operated safely, maintained in working order, and subject to required daily inspections.
• Complete craft performance assessments and verify that assigned employees are qualified for their work.

Required Experience

• Previous mechanic experience with strong knowledge of construction-equipment maintenance, repair, and operation.
• Prior supervisory experience is preferred.
• Required tools for the mechanic position and a commercial driver's license when operating equipment on public roads.
• Ability to understand project plans, specifications, schedules, equipment manuals, and safety procedures.
• NCCER credentials in heavy equipment, highway/heavy construction, mobile crane operations, rigging, crew leadership, project supervision, or project management are preferred or listed for the role.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, work in confined or uneven areas, climb ladders and structural steel, and perform physically demanding outdoor work.
• Must be at least 18 years old and able to complete applicable pre-employment screening.
