Assistant Field Engineer (Hourly)

Job Summary

Holder Construction is seeking a full-time Assistant Field Engineer to support construction operations on a project in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The role focuses on field layout, surveying, project control, and coordination with crews and trade partners.

Responsibilities

• Maintain vertical and horizontal project control for construction activities.
• Support field engineering crews under the direction of a Field Engineer.
• Perform surveying, layout, and verification work for foundations, anchor bolts, embeds, slabs, walls, and other key elements.
• Coordinate daily layout needs with field crews, project teams, and trade partners.

Required Experience

• Previous experience leading construction layout crews.
• Ability to use total stations, site levels, lasers, data collectors, and tablets.
• Ability to interpret structural, architectural, civil, and shop drawings.
• Basic AutoCAD and Bluebeam knowledge, along with familiarity with layout methods and building constructability.
• Working knowledge of construction tools, field mathematics, concrete quantity calculations, and unit conversions.
• Reliable transportation, strong communication and computer skills, and willingness to work overtime and weekends.
• Ability to work outdoors in varied weather, navigate uneven surfaces and heights, and lift layout equipment weighing up to approximately 50 pounds.
• Ability to work in an OSHA-compliant environment and travel as needed.
