Assistant Field Engineer (Hourly)

Job Summary

Holder Construction is seeking a full-time, in-person Assistant Field Engineer to support its Operations team in Mooresville, Indiana. This role assists with construction layout, field coordination, and project control.

Responsibilities

• Maintain vertical and horizontal project control.
• Support field engineering crews under the direction of a Field Engineer.
• Perform surveying and layout work using total stations, levels, lasers, data collectors, and tablets.
• Deliver accurate layout for scheduled construction activities and verify tolerances for foundations, anchor bolts, embeds, slabs, walls, and related work.
• Coordinate with field crews, project staff, and trade partners to resolve layout issues.

Required Experience

• Prior experience leading construction layout crews.
• Ability to read structural, architectural, civil, and shop drawings.
• Basic AutoCAD and Bluebeam knowledge, along with an understanding of layout methods and building constructability.
• Working knowledge of field tools, construction math, unit conversions, and concrete quantity calculations.
• Reliable transportation, strong communication and computer skills, and willingness to work overtime, weekends, outdoors, and in an OSHA-compliant environment.
• Ability to travel and perform physically demanding field work, including carrying equipment up to approximately 50 pounds and working on uneven surfaces, heights, ladders, and scaffolds.
