Assistant Field Engineer (Hourly)

Job Summary

Holder Construction is seeking a full-time Assistant Field Engineer to support its Operations team on a construction project in New Albany, Ohio. The role focuses on field layout, surveying, project control, and coordination with crews and trade partners.

Responsibilities

• Maintain vertical and horizontal project control.
• Support field engineering crews under the direction of a Field Engineer.
• Perform surveying, layout, and verification activities using construction measurement equipment.
• Check foundations, anchor bolts, embeds, slabs, walls, and related work against drawings and specifications.
• Coordinate daily layout needs with field crews, project staff, and trade partners.

Required Experience

• Previous experience leading construction layout crews.
• Ability to use total stations, site levels, lasers, data collectors, and tablets.
• Knowledge of structural, architectural, civil, and shop drawings.
• Basic familiarity with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, layout methods, and construction site conditions.
• Working knowledge of field tools, construction math, geometry, trigonometry, and concrete quantity calculations.
• Reliable transportation, strong communication and time-management skills, and the ability to work overtime or weekends.
• Willingness to travel and work in an OSHA-compliant environment.
• Ability to work outdoors, navigate uneven surfaces and elevated areas, handle equipment weighing up to approximately 50 pounds, and remain mobile for extended periods.
