Assistant Field Engineer (Hourly)

Job Summary

Holder Construction is seeking a full-time, in-person Assistant Field Engineer to support construction operations on a project in Columbus, Ohio.

Project Details

The role supports building-site layout and field engineering activities, including foundations, anchor bolts, embeds, slabs, walls, and related construction elements.

Responsibilities

• Maintain vertical and horizontal project control.
• Support field engineering crews under the direction of a Field Engineer.
• Coordinate and perform surveying, layout, and construction measurement activities.
• Verify layout against drawings, specifications, tolerances, schedules, and field priorities.
• Coordinate with crews, trade partners, and project staff to resolve layout concerns.

Required Experience

• Previous experience leading construction layout crews.
• Ability to use total stations, levels, lasers, data collectors, tablets, and common field tools.
• Knowledge of structural, architectural, civil, and shop drawings, with basic AutoCAD and Bluebeam skills.
• Working knowledge of algebra, geometry, trigonometry, unit conversions, and concrete quantity calculations.
• Reliable transportation, strong communication and computer skills, and availability for overtime or weekend work.
• Ability to work in an OSHA-compliant environment and willingness to travel.
• Preferred capabilities include outdoor work in all weather, lifting layout equipment up to approximately 50 pounds, and working on uneven surfaces, heights, ladders, and scaffolds.
