Assistant Project Manager - Design Services

Job Summary

Interstates is seeking an Assistant Project Manager for its Design Services team. This role supports engineers, designers, project managers, field leadership, and clients while developing toward future project management responsibilities.

Project Details

The team delivers electrical construction, engineering, instrumentation, automation, controls, and operational technology services for industrial facilities. The position is based in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, or Sioux Center, Iowa, with travel of up to 20%.

Responsibilities

• Support project managers and jobsite leaders with project administration and leadership activities.
• Coordinate engineering deliverables, project controls, schedules, crew planning, and project communications.
• Prepare RFIs, submittals, meeting documentation, estimates, change-order information, and monthly review materials.
• Analyze project data, assist with problem solving, and identify alternate approaches to support project success.
• Participate in client meetings and coordinate with trade contractors.
• Assist with material and subcontract procurement and expediting.
• Promote the company’s safety culture throughout project activities.

Required Experience

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in construction engineering, business administration, engineering technology, or construction management.
• Ability to organize project information, prioritize work, and adapt project systems as needed.
• Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, teamwork, and client-facing communication skills.
• Comfort presenting information to clients, colleagues, and managers.
