Assistant Safety Manager - Night Shift

Job Summary

McCarthy Building Companies is seeking an Assistant Safety Manager to administer the project safety program and strengthen safe work practices on a night-shift construction project in Atlanta.

Project Details

The role supports large-scale healthcare, commercial, industrial, mission critical, or similar construction projects.

Responsibilities

• Promote safety expectations among employees, subcontractors, and new hires.
• Complete documented safety and health inspections at least twice monthly.
• Coordinate protective equipment, first aid supplies, posted safety materials, and project documentation.
• Investigate injuries, illnesses, accidents, and near misses while maintaining OSHA-related records.
• Enforce safety policies, coordinate weekly toolbox meetings, and communicate project safety activity to division leadership.

Required Experience

• At least three years managing safety efforts on large construction projects.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
• OSHA 500 certification preferred.
• Experience administering orientations, substance abuse programs, incident investigations, and safety reporting.
• Strong communication, organization, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
• Bilingual Spanish capability is preferred, with the ability to collaborate across management, owners, trades, and subcontractors.
• Must be willing and able to work the night shift and travel within the region as needed.
