Assistant Safety Manager - Water & Wastewater

Job Summary

McCarthy Building Companies is seeking an Assistant Safety Manager in Dallas to administer project safety efforts and strengthen proactive safety practices across water and wastewater construction operations.

Project Details

The position supports large water and wastewater projects, with related experience in healthcare, commercial, industrial, or mission-critical construction also considered.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate safety programs, orientations, documentation, and compliance activities for employees and subcontractors.
• Complete documented safety and health inspections at least twice monthly and track corrective actions.
• Coordinate protective equipment, first-aid supplies, posted safety information, and substance-abuse program administration.
• Investigate injuries, illnesses, and near misses; prepare reports and maintain OSHA-related records.
• Lead weekly toolbox meetings and distribute safety plans, inspection records, correspondence, directives, and citations.
• Identify construction hazards and enforce project safety policies in coordination with supervision and the project team.

Required Experience

• At least three years managing safety activities on large construction projects.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
• OSHA 500 preferred.
• Spanish bilingual ability preferred.
• Strong communication, organization, decision-making, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work across management, owners, trades, and subcontractors.
