Job Summary

Black & Veatch is hiring an Associate Electrical Engineer to support industrial manufacturing projects across North America, covering sectors such as food and beverage, ag/bio-process, oil refining, and packaging. The role sits within BV Operations and is aligned to the Technology, Commercial & Industrial market sector.

Project Details

Work spans North American industrial manufacturing clients, with project types including manufacturing facilities, ag/bio-process plants, food and beverage operations, oil refining, and packaging. Projects range from smaller facility improvements to large-scale industrial programs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop electrical design deliverables including one-line diagrams, schematics, power and lighting plans, panel schedules, instrumentation, and technical specifications.
  • Perform project studies covering energy optimization, power system coordination, and arc flash hazard analysis.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including process, mechanical, instrumentation and controls, structural, civil, and architectural disciplines.
  • Support construction inspection and assist in resolving electrical construction issues.
  • Collaborate with regional and global design teams and continuously develop technical expertise.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant discipline from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Minimum 1 year of related electrical design, planning, or construction services experience.
  • EIT/EI credential preferred.
  • Basic understanding of NEC/NFPA 70 and hazardous classified area concepts preferred.
  • Experience with power system analysis software (SKM, ETAP, or similar) is a plus.
  • AutoCAD experience required; familiarity with PLC wiring and controls is preferred.
  • Consulting and industrial manufacturing background preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary ranges by state: Colorado $91,047–$152,053; Minnesota $86,909–$145,142. Final compensation depends on experience, qualifications, and location. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) with company match, paid vacation and holidays, sick time, tuition reimbursement, adoption reimbursement, AD&D insurance, wellness program, and participation in the company's 100% ESOP structure. Performance-based bonus eligibility available. Hybrid or flexible work options may be available after 90 days.
