Job Summary
Overland Contracting Inc., a Black & Veatch company, is seeking an equipment foreman to supervise heavy equipment operations and lead a craft crew on a safety-sensitive construction project in Belmont, North Carolina.
Project Details
The position supports power and other critical infrastructure construction work in a typical outdoor construction-site environment.
Responsibilities
- Supervise equipment operators, lead workers, and other assigned craft personnel.
- Plan daily work, develop one-week schedules, establish crew goals, and coordinate tools, materials, and equipment.
- Lead pre-job safety planning, toolbox meetings, hazard correction, incident reporting, and lockout/tagout compliance.
- Inspect equipment and work areas, confirm daily equipment inspections, and ensure construction work meets plans, specifications, and quality standards.
- Coordinate with other trades, track quantities and labor coding, provide on-the-job training, and complete craft performance assessments.
Required Experience
- Prior heavy equipment operating experience and strong knowledge of operating and rigging work are required.
- Knowledge of equipment limitations, safe operating practices, construction procedures, and field quality requirements is necessary.
- A Medical Examiner's Certificate must be on file before operating equipment.
- A commercial driver's license is required when equipment is operated on public roads.
- NCCER certifications in heavy equipment operations, highway/heavy construction, rigging, site layout, crew leadership, project supervision, or project management are preferred.
- Applicants must be at least 18 and able to complete applicable background, drug-screen, and motor-vehicle checks.
- Physical work includes lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing, kneeling, bending, repetitive movement, and working in confined areas and extreme weather.
