Charlottesville Superintendent Commercial Construction

Job Summary

Barton Malow is hiring a Construction Superintendent to direct field execution and coordinate project stakeholders on complex commercial construction work in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Project Details

The role supports higher education, healthcare, sports and entertainment, and institutional facilities across Virginia and the Mid-Atlantic, including work in campus and occupied environments.

Responsibilities

• Direct construction activities from mobilization through closeout while maintaining safety, quality, schedule, and productivity goals.
• Coordinate subcontractor sequencing, daily operations, planning meetings, site walks, and progress reviews.
• Collaborate with project managers on forecasting, cost control, change management, bid packages, and subcontractor procurement.
• Develop site logistics plans and resolve field issues with owners, architects, consultants, engineers, and trade partners.
• Verify work complies with contract documents, quality requirements, and owner expectations.

Required Experience

• At least seven years of construction field leadership experience on commercial projects.
• Experience in higher education, healthcare, sports and entertainment, commercial, or institutional construction.
• Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
• Strong knowledge of scheduling, sequencing, logistics, safety compliance, quality management, stakeholder coordination, and conflict resolution.
