Civil Engineer - Water

Job Summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Civil Engineer to support large-scale water and wastewater infrastructure projects from planning and design through construction and startup. This full-time role offers a hybrid or flexible work arrangement after the first 90 days, subject to management discretion.

Project Details

Projects focus on water and wastewater infrastructure, including conveyance systems, infrastructure improvements, and pump or lift stations. Work may include studies, detailed designs, specifications, contract documents, and construction-phase support.

Responsibilities

• Develop engineering designs, calculations, reports, technical memoranda, specifications, and other project deliverables.
• Support project schedules, budgets, quality requirements, contract administration, and client coordination.
• Prepare technical approaches, scopes of work, and client presentations for business development efforts.
• Coordinate with internal disciplines, external consultants, clients, and project teams.
• Evaluate equipment and material options and develop practical solutions for complex design needs.
• Provide technical leadership, review work, and mentor less experienced engineers.

Required Experience

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• At least 5 years of related engineering experience.
• Thorough understanding of water and wastewater design, including infrastructure, conveyance, and pump or lift stations.
• Active engineering registration or licensure to support engineer-of-record requirements.
• Licensed PE or demonstrated ability and interest in obtaining PE registration is preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

Annual compensation is $137,916.00-$230,328.00. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, disability coverage, wellness programs, paid time off, holidays, sick leave, a company-matched 401(k), and employee stock ownership through the 100% ESOP. A performance-based bonus may also be available.
