Job Summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Civil Engineer to support major water and wastewater infrastructure projects in Charlotte. This full-time role offers employee ownership, relocation eligibility, and opportunities to contribute from planning and design through construction and startup.

Project Details

Work will focus on water and wastewater infrastructure, including conveyance systems, infrastructure improvements, and pump or lift stations. Projects may span government and environmental programs and range from community improvements to large-scale infrastructure initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop studies, technical reports, calculations, designs, specifications, estimates, and contract documents.
  • Support project schedules, budgets, quality requirements, and contract administration.
  • Coordinate with clients, subconsultants, internal disciplines, and project teams.
  • Prepare technical approaches and scopes of work and participate in client presentations and business development.
  • Evaluate equipment and materials and develop solutions for complex design challenges.
  • Guide, mentor, and review the work of less experienced engineers.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • At least 5 years of related engineering experience.
  • Thorough understanding of water and wastewater design, including conveyance and pump or lift stations.
  • Active engineering registration or licensure supporting engineer-of-record requirements.
  • Licensed PE, or demonstrated ability and interest in obtaining PE registration, preferred.
