Concrete Superintendent

Job Summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Concrete Superintendent to direct concrete construction activities at Plant Bowen in Cartersville, Georgia. The role leads field supervision, craft productivity, subcontractor coordination, and safe execution of assigned work.

Project Details

The position supports construction at Plant Bowen, a power-generation facility. New hires attend a one-week orientation in Overland Park, Kansas.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate direct-hire supervisors, foremen, subcontractors, field engineers, and other discipline superintendents.
• Monitor safety, quality, schedule, productivity, costs, installed quantities, and contractual compliance.
• Build and maintain three-week look-ahead schedules, corrective action plans, daily logs, and punch-list reporting.
• Lead planning meetings and coordinate daily and weekly work plans across project disciplines.
• Confirm that labor, materials, equipment, and other resources are available for scheduled work.
• Administer work packages, support technical information requests and extra-work authorizations, and identify out-of-scope work or potential back charges.
• Prepare job hazard analyses for major work packages and support incident, safety, quality, and lessons-learned programs.
• Provide direction, training, development, and performance management for assigned personnel.

Required Experience

• At least 8 years of experience as a Superintendent or Construction Manager on comparable projects.
• Previous concrete superintendent experience strongly preferred.
• Union and union-management experience, including knowledge of local agreements and jurisdictional matters, strongly preferred.
• Construction Management or Engineering degree preferred.
• OSHA 10 certification required.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Ability to work safely in industrial construction environments, including confined areas, elevated work, uneven surfaces, hazardous equipment, and variable weather.
