Construction Engineering Manager

Job Summary

Barton Malow Company is hiring a Construction Engineering Manager at its Southfield, Michigan headquarters to lead complex field operations across multiple concurrent commercial and institutional construction contracts.

Project Details

Work includes large-scale steel erection (5,000+ tons), roofing, and siding installations on commercial and institutional building projects, with exposure to international fabrication facility oversight.

Responsibilities

• Lead field operations across multiple concurrent construction contracts involving steel erection, roofing, and siding.
• Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to guide non-engineered field staff through complex scopes using 3D modeling tools.
• Develop and manage detailed project schedules in Primavera P6 and MS Project, integrating fabrication, delivery, and installation timelines.
• Conduct on-site reviews at international fabrication facilities to verify compliance and resolve design-to-fabrication discrepancies.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to identify and implement field-driven design solutions using AutoCAD and Bluebeam.

Required Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering (or foreign equivalent).
• 8+ years of experience as a Construction Manager and/or Superintendent on commercial and institutional building projects.
• Proven experience leading steel erection (5,000+ tons), roofing, and siding scopes across concurrent contracts.
• Proficiency in 3D modeling software: Revit, Tekla, or Bentley.
• Proficiency in Primavera P6, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam.
• OSHA 30 certification required.
