Construction Manager - Transmission/Distribution - Michigan

Job Summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Construction Manager to coordinate field construction activities for transmission and substation projects in Michigan. This role oversees schedule, safety, cost, quality, staffing, equipment, and site coordination in a travel-based field assignment.

Project Details

The position supports transmission, distribution, transmission line, and substation construction, including project proposals, constructability reviews, subcontractor coordination, risk mitigation, and quality program development.

Responsibilities

• Provide site teams with construction methods, staffing, tools, equipment, and resources needed for transmission and substation work.
• Coordinate safety programs, construction procedures, quality activities, schedules, productivity, costs, and installed quantities.
• Review timesheets, progress reports, payment requests, and resource availability.
• Resolve field issues involving drawings, schedule, quality, cost, quantity tracking, and safety.
• Develop job hazard analyses for major erection packages and support corrective actions, commercial recovery, and risk mitigation.
• Build effective working relationships with clients and subcontractors while supporting continuous improvement.

Required Experience

• At least 10 years of construction supervisory experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in construction, engineering, or a related field preferred, or equivalent relevant field experience.
• OSHA training required.
• Ability to complete applicable pre-employment background, drug-screen, and motor-vehicle-record checks.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders and scaffolds, work at height, and perform physically demanding outdoor construction work.
