District Engineer Power Construction

Job Summary

Kiewit’s TIC Power District is seeking a District Engineer to provide technical leadership and engineering oversight across multiple power construction projects. The role coordinates engineering, project management, field operations, and client needs while supporting safe, efficient, and compliant project delivery from planning through closeout.

Project Details

TIC Power provides non-union, direct-hire construction services for power generation and resource facilities throughout North America. Its work includes cogeneration, combined-cycle, geothermal, and waste-to-energy projects. This position is based in Lenexa, Kansas.

Responsibilities

• Guide project teams through engineering, construction, commissioning, and closeout.
• Review technical deliverables, work packages, submittals, design changes, codes, specifications, and contractual requirements.
• Support constructability reviews, project planning, scheduling, cost forecasting, risk management, and project controls.
• Coordinate quality assurance, quality control, audits, inspections, incident investigations, and corrective actions.
• Work with project managers, construction managers, superintendents, procurement teams, clients, subcontractors, vendors, and design partners.
• Mentor engineering staff and contribute to workforce planning, recruiting, succession planning, proposals, estimating, and business development.
• Promote safety, productivity, collaboration, and continuous operational improvement across district projects.

Required Experience

• At least 10 years of engineering, construction, or project management experience in power, industrial, infrastructure, oil and gas, or heavy civil environments.
• Experience overseeing engineering functions across multiple projects or business units and leading multidisciplinary teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in civil, construction, mechanical, electrical, or related engineering discipline.
• Knowledge of construction means and methods, project delivery, scheduling, cost control, budgeting, forecasting, quality systems, and construction specifications.
• Experience with large-scale EPC, energy, industrial, or power generation projects and construction management or project controls software.
• Professional Engineer license preferred.
• Ability to travel to project locations, work extended assignments when required, and work overtime or weekends as needed.
