Job Summary
Black & Veatch is seeking an Electrical Project Engineer to provide technical leadership and project coordination for high-voltage substation engineering and EPC work in Bloomington, Minnesota.
Project Details
The role supports utility and technology-focused infrastructure projects, including substations up to 765kV, renewable integration, HVDC/FACTS/STATCOM, battery energy storage, and data center infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Lead or coordinate electrical design activities for protection and control and physical substation systems.
- Develop schematics, relay and equipment wiring, grounding, lightning protection, yard layouts, control building arrangements, equipment specifications, and bills of materials.
- Review design packages for quality, manage assigned budgets and schedules, and coordinate with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Mentor junior professionals and support proposals, field verification, construction coordination, and client presentations.
Required Experience
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program or equivalent engineering experience.
- At least five years of related engineering experience.
- Active engineering registration or licensure to support engineer-of-record requirements.
- High-voltage substation design experience in physical design and/or protection and controls is preferred.
- Project lead, technical specialist, QA/QC, client coordination, Bluebeam Revu, and Microsoft Office experience are preferred.
Compensation and Benefits
Annual compensation is $120,677-$201,537.
