Engineering Manager Solar & BESS

Job Summary

Black & Veatch is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead technical delivery for solar photovoltaic and battery energy storage system projects. This full-time role supports multidisciplinary teams, client coordination, and project execution from development through commissioning.

Project Details

The position focuses on Solar + BESS facilities, including siting, permitting, feasibility, conceptual design, FEED, energy production estimates, procurement, construction completion, integration, commissioning, and operations and maintenance considerations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review complex engineering deliverables for multiple or large-scale projects.
• Lead multidisciplinary production teams and coordinate civil, structural, electrical, and controls activities.
• Manage project budgets, schedules, quality requirements, and engineering changes.
• Provide technical leadership, client communication, proposal support, and business development assistance.
• Review engineering assignments and mentor engineering professionals.

Required Experience

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program.
• At least 8 years of related professional experience, including 5 or more years designing solar PV and/or BESS facilities.
• Strong understanding of solar and battery storage equipment, layout optimization, and engineering design standards.
• Working knowledge of civil and electrical engineering, project development, permitting, feasibility studies, FEED, procurement, and contract administration.
• Knowledge of Power Purchase Agreement impacts on siting, permitting, design, schedule, cost, commissioning, and operations.
• P.E. license preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range is $109,460-$182,800 per year. Benefits include a company-matched 401(k), benefits beginning on day one, and potential eligibility for a performance-based bonus program. Hybrid or flexible work options may be available after 90 days, subject to manager discretion and assignment needs.
