Job Summary

Black & Veatch is seeking an Extra High Voltage Overhead Transmission Line Project Engineering Manager to lead multi-discipline engineering teams on complex EHV overhead transmission line projects across design services and EPC programs. This is a full-time, hybrid-eligible role based in Overland Park, Kansas, with relocation assistance available.

Project Details

The role sits within Black & Veatch's Technology, Commercial & Industrial group, ranked #4 Overall in Power by ENR (2025). Project work spans investor-owned utility transmission line programs, substations, renewables integration, HVDC/FACTS, data center integration, and BESS — with exposure to mega-project EPC and design-services delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Lead multi-discipline engineering and technician teams to deliver complex overhead transmission line projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Prepare and oversee complex engineering deliverables, calculations, and data management across multiple projects.
  • Develop and manage project workplans, budgets, schedules, and quality requirements.
  • Interface directly with clients to understand key drivers, communicate concerns, and manage project changes.
  • Support business development, proposal preparation, and engineering estimates.
  • Review lower-level engineering work and serve as responsible charge for projects.
  • Assist with hiring, performance management, and pay administration for direct reports.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program.
  • Minimum 11 years of related engineering experience.
  • Experience managing EPC or design services overhead transmission line projects for U.S. investor-owned utilities preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of PLS-CADD, line routing, structural loading design, and foundation design.
  • Familiarity with interdisciplinary coordination including procurement, permitting, real estate, and construction support.
  • P.E. license highly preferred; professional registration may be required.
