Job Summary

Black & Veatch Special Projects Corp. is seeking a Federal Project Manager to lead Department of Defense engineering and infrastructure contracts from its Overland Park, Kansas office. The role manages multiple small-to-medium A/E and services projects across federal clients including USACE, NAVFAC, and AFCEC.

Project Details

Work spans DoD facilities and infrastructure projects — including Architecture/Engineering, classified design, environmental, and integrated services — executed through prime, sub, and joint-venture arrangements with federal agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple small-to-medium federal services projects and client relationships simultaneously.
  • Drive business development: identify client requirements, prepare proposals, and support contract negotiations.
  • Oversee project budgets, costs, schedules, scope changes, risk, and contract compliance throughout the full project lifecycle.
  • Lead, coach, and manage a variable project team; delegate work and resolve conflict to achieve results.
  • Apply B&V project management methodology across initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closeout phases.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
  • 10+ years of experience working with A/E design teams on U.S. Department of Defense projects preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or Registered Architect (RA) preferred.
  • Experience with AFCEC, NAVFAC, and/or USACE, including UFC/FC requirements and Federal Acquisition Regulations (FARs).
  • Full project lifecycle experience from proposal through design to construction (design-bid-build).
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Compensation and Benefits

$126,236–$214,599/year base salary, performance-based bonus eligibility, 401(k) with company match, medical/dental/vision insurance, paid vacation and holidays, and 100% ESOP ownership stake.
