Job Summary
Black & Veatch is seeking a Federal Project Manager to support Department of Defense contracts, with a specialized focus on the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). This is a hybrid-eligible, full-time staff role based near a B&V office location. U.S. citizenship is required.
Project Details
The role involves managing multiple small to medium-sized A/E design and infrastructure services projects for federal clients including the MDA, USACE, AFCEC, and NAVFAC. Projects span the full lifecycle from proposal through design to construction closeout, including fixed-price engineering and design-bid-build delivery.
Responsibilities
- Manage multiple federal A/E services projects simultaneously, with primary emphasis on Missile Defense Agency work.
- Lead business development efforts: identify client needs, build relationships, and prepare proposals covering scope, cost, and schedule.
- Negotiate contract commercial terms and manage project budgets, costs, receivables, and legal issues.
- Direct project execution using B&V's project management methodology across initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closeout phases.
- Manage scope, cost, schedule, quality, and safety risks based on available resources and client requirements.
- Communicate clear expectations and vision to the project team; coach, mentor, and manage performance of direct reports.
Required Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
- 10+ years of experience working with A/E design teams supporting the U.S. Department of Defense.
- Experience with full project lifecycle: proposal, design, and construction.
- Familiarity with UFC/FC requirements, Federal Acquisition Regulations (FARs), and design-bid-build delivery.
- Experience with AFCEC, NAVFAC, and/or USACE preferred; MDA experience highly preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or Registered Architect (RA) preferred.
- Must be able to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance; U.S. citizenship is required.
Compensation and Benefits
$126,236–$214,599/year, plus eligibility for a performance-based bonus. Benefits include a company-matched 401(k), AD&T insurance, adoption reimbursement, employee referral program, vendor discounts, and access to the B&V Credit Union. Hybrid or flexible work options may be available after 90 days.
