Field Engineer

Job Summary

Kiewit Foundations Co. is seeking a Field Engineer to support hands-on construction operations in both field and office settings. The role is suited to candidates with a background in construction management, civil, mining, mechanical, or geotechnical engineering who want a construction-focused career.

Project Details

The team delivers deep foundation and underground work across transportation, water and wastewater, power, mining, and telecommunications projects. Assignments may include piling, ground improvement, earth retention, and other complex geotechnical operations across North America.

Responsibilities

• Interpret drawings and specifications, perform quantity calculations, support surveying and layout, and compile as-built information.
• Prepare work plans, hazard analyses, daily records, material orders, schedules, and project documentation.
• Coordinate work groups, support safety meetings and reviews, and supervise field and subcontractor operations.
• Perform takeoffs, engineering calculations, drafting, cost tracking, purchase order support, submittals, RFIs, and change-order documentation.
• Assist with estimating through production analysis, bid reviews, risk identification, and material quantity takeoffs.

Required Experience

• Degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• One to three years of deep foundations or heavy civil construction experience preferred.
• Ability to read construction documents and work safely across varied jobsite conditions and terrain.
• Strong organization, communication, time management, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Willingness to relocate, work overtime and weekends as needed, and spend more than 40 hours per week on the job when required.
