Job Summary
Kiewit is seeking a Field Engineer to support heavy civil transportation construction operations on-site in Fairfield, California. The position offers mid-level field leadership responsibilities on a major infrastructure project.
Project Details
The assignment supports a $152 million upgrade to Interstate 80, including construction of a commercial vehicle enforcement facility designed to expand inspection capacity and reduce congestion. The project is scheduled for completion in February 2029.
Responsibilities
- Interpret plans and specifications for crews and craft supervisors.
- Calculate installed quantities, track progress, and support as-built documentation.
- Prepare work plans, work packages, and job hazard analyses.
- Support surveying, layout, elevations, control points, and field data collection.
- Coordinate labor records, material deliveries, work groups, schedules, and field operations.
- Participate in safety reviews, toolbox talks, sitewide safety meetings, and training.
Required Experience
- At least two years of construction field experience, preferably in heavy civil work such as roads, bridges, rail, concrete, asphalt, earthwork, or water and wastewater.
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related discipline.
- Ability to review engineering plans, specifications, and contract documents and identify discrepancies.
- Strong communication, organization, initiative, time management, and attention to detail.
- Ability to access active construction areas, work in varied conditions, and work overtime or weekends when required.
Compensation and Benefits
Base salary is $85,000-$110,000. Full-time employees receive medical, dental, vision, wellness and employee assistance programs, life and disability insurance, a retirement plan with matching, and paid time off.
