Field Engineer Kiewit Underground District

Job Summary

Kiewit is hiring an entry-level Field/Office Engineer for its Underground District. This role supports field operations, office engineering, estimating, and underground construction activities while offering opportunities to travel and relocate based on project requirements.

Project Details

The Underground District delivers transportation, water and wastewater, environmental, power, mining, and telecommunications projects. Construction methods include tunnel boring, sequential excavation, drill and blast, shaft excavation, concrete, tunnel rehabilitation, and trenchless construction.

Responsibilities

• Interpret drawings, calculate quantities, support surveying, prepare work plans, and help coordinate materials and crews.
• Participate in safety meetings, hazard analyses, jobsite reviews, and underground construction problem-solving.
• Prepare takeoffs, calculations, project records, daily reports, RFIs, submittals, purchase documentation, and cost information.
• Support change orders, as-built documentation, subcontractor operations, and project management activities.
• Review bid documents, analyze production and cost information, and complete estimating takeoffs and risk reviews.

Required Experience

• Zero to one year of related construction experience.
• Ability to read construction drawings and specifications and use Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Strong organizational, communication, time management, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and ability to access construction sites in varied climates and conditions.
• Willingness to work overtime and weekends and to travel or relocate as required.

Compensation and Benefits

Base compensation is $85,000/yr - $86,580/yr. Full-time employees receive medical, dental, vision, wellness, employee assistance, life and disability insurance, retirement matching, and paid time off.
