Field Engineer - Southeast District

Job Summary

Kiewit is seeking an entry-level Field Engineer for its Southeast District to support heavy civil and transportation construction operations. The role combines field coordination, office engineering, estimating support, and jobsite supervision.

Project Details

The Southeast District delivers highways, airports, mass transit, tunnels, dams, and water and wastewater infrastructure across the southeastern United States. Assignments may be located in Florida, Virginia, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, and surrounding states.

Responsibilities

• Interpret construction documents and assist crews with field execution, surveying, layout, quantities, and as-built information.
• Prepare work plans, job hazard analyses, material schedules, daily records, RFIs, and project correspondence.
• Coordinate work groups, subcontractors, deliveries, safety activities, and field operations.
• Support takeoffs, engineering calculations, purchase orders, subcontracts, cost tracking, change orders, and estimating reviews.
• Help maintain project records and provide information for customer, vendor, subcontractor, and agency submittals.

Required Experience

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, construction management, mining, geotechnical engineering, or another construction-related discipline.
• Previous internship experience is preferred.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.
• Must be able to access active construction sites in varied climates and environments.
• Strong communication, organization, initiative, teamwork, ethics, safety awareness, and attention to detail are expected.
• Must be willing to travel, relocate, and work overtime, weekends, rotating schedules, or shifts as project conditions require.
