Field Safety Coordinator - NC (Bird Electric)

Job Summary

Bird Electric, a Black & Veatch company, is seeking a Field Safety Coordinator in Hickory to support construction safety programs, employee training, compliance activities, and field-level incident prevention.

Project Details

The company supports work across power, water, grid, and industrial markets. This field-based role operates in construction-site and office environments.

Responsibilities

• Implement project safety and health procedures, substance-abuse programs, and related documentation.
• Deliver safety training and conduct site inspections.
• Investigate incidents and injuries, prepare reports, and maintain records.
• Coordinate project security and workers' compensation activities when assigned.
• Support first aid, medical response, client and agency communication, and continuous-improvement initiatives.
• Analyze safety data and recommend administrative, emergency, and personal protective equipment controls.

Required Experience

• At least two years of construction-environment experience and four years of safety and health experience.
• Preferred qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, bachelor's degree, and safety and health certifications.
• Knowledge of construction safety standards, substance-abuse and workers' compensation procedures, reporting, conflict management, and safety software is preferred.
• Certifications or training listed include First Aid, CPR, drug testing, OSHA 500/501, Safety and Health Program Administration, and OSHA 10-hour.
• Must be able to meet applicable onboarding requirements, which may include background, drug, and motor vehicle checks.
• Work requires lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing, repetitive movement, and operating in confined or uneven areas and changing weather conditions.
