Job Summary
JE Dunn Construction is seeking a General Superintendent to lead its most complex commercial construction projects in Kansas City. This senior field leadership role oversees all aspects of project execution — from planning and scheduling to subcontractor management and closeout — across large-scale, high-value projects exceeding $200M.
Project Details
The General Superintendent will manage the largest and most complex stand-alone projects, as well as provide oversight across multiple concurrent project teams, with direct responsibility for field operations strategy and execution.
Responsibilities
- Lead all aspects of the company's safety culture and maintain an injury-free environment.
- Manage and oversee subcontractors, suppliers, company staff, and programs including Safety, Quality, and EEO.
- Develop and execute project pre-plans, construction sequencing, and schedules in coordination with the Project Manager.
- Lead daily standup meetings, weekly trade meetings, and OAC progress meetings.
- Track project budget and costs using project management cost reports and data.
- Manage material, equipment, and self-perform work needs throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support project closeouts by supervising pre-punch activities and coordinating with owners and architects.
- Provide oversight to multiple project teams and contribute to regional strategic initiatives.
- Participate in project buyout meetings, owner negotiations, and monthly review presentations.
- Identify, recruit, and develop top field talent.
Required Experience
- 12+ years of construction experience with 10+ years in field supervision.
- Demonstrated success leading complex commercial projects valued at $200M or more.
- Proficiency in scheduling software, project management systems, and MS Office.
- Advanced knowledge of specific trades, self-perform work, and labor productivity.
- Ability to apply Lean construction principles (experience preferred).
- Advanced knowledge of crane flagging, rigging, and layout.
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- Valid and unrestricted driver's license required.
