General Trades Engineer Detroit, MI

Job Summary

Barton Malow is seeking a General Trades Project Engineer in Detroit to support safe, on-budget, and on-schedule construction delivery while partnering with project management and field operations.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate bidder lists, bidding documents, subcontractor and supplier proposals, and subcontract preparation.
• Perform trade quantity takeoffs and support client proposal development.
• Manage RFIs and submittals, project startup materials, team meetings, and field coordination.
• Track labor relations, equipment, productivity, scope changes, contract amounts, and outstanding extras.
• Review budget reports and support contract closeout and final project acceptance.

Required Experience

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience preferred.
• Construction internship or field experience preferred.
• Familiarity with estimating, quantity takeoff, and project management software.
• Knowledge of construction means and methods, including RFI and submittal workflows.
• Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills, with the ability to work on-site in a fast-paced environment.
