Grade Foreman

Job Summary

Ames Construction is seeking a Grade Foreman to supervise field crews and manage excavation work on heavy civil construction projects in the Charlotte area.

Project Details

Ames delivers heavy civil and industrial construction, including infrastructure work such as highways, bridges, mines, dams, and rail.

Responsibilities

• Lead crew members on site, prioritize safety, and plan work sequences to support project schedules.
• Manage excavation activities and use plans, specifications, and survey or grade-staking methods, including lasers, transits, and GPS.
• Submit crew timecards and daily foreman reports, and address field issues as they arise.

Required Experience

• At least five years of foreman or supervisory experience in highway heavy civil construction.
• Knowledge of OSHA practices and heavy equipment; ability to understand plans and grade staking.
• Valid driver's license, willingness to travel, and ability to work outdoors in varied weather and perform the physical duties of the role, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Strong communication, motivation, time management, prioritization, and attention to detail.
