Project Engineer - Heavy Civil Construction

Job Summary

Ames Construction is hiring a Project Engineer to support heavy civil construction projects from its Charlotte team. The role assists project managers and superintendents with field and project coordination.

Project Details

Work may include large-scale infrastructure projects such as highways, bridges, utilities, and site development.

Responsibilities

• Support daily project operations and review plans, specifications, and contract documents.
• Monitor progress, prepare reports, and maintain project records.
• Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, materials, and internal teams.
• Assist with quality, site safety, cost tracking, budgets, and schedule updates.
• Provide technical support and help resolve construction challenges.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Construction internship or co-op experience is preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of construction principles and project management fundamentals.
• Microsoft Office proficiency; familiarity with scheduling software such as Primavera P6 is a plus.
• Strong communication, organization, and analytical skills, with flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
