Job Summary

Bird Electric Enterprises, a Black & Veatch company, is seeking a Project Manager to oversee construction operations in Hickory, North Carolina. This role leads Superintendents and coordinates field execution across schedule, safety, cost, quality, and contract requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, mentor, and direct Superintendents and field staff.
  • Manage site construction activities, planning meetings, subcontractor coordination, and schedule compliance.
  • Monitor productivity, installation progress, budget performance, overtime, changes, payments, and schedule recovery actions.
  • Coordinate materials, equipment rentals, engineering deliverables, manufacturer service technicians, completion walkdowns, startup handoffs, and punch-list closeout.
  • Support client relations and prepare construction portions of monthly reports.
  • Maintain compliance with safety, quality, ethical, and performance programs; serve as the site Safety Representative when needed.
  • Resolve construction, safety, quality, and subcontractor issues while escalating unresolved disputes appropriately.
  • Manage subordinate personnel, including discipline and pay administration.

Required Experience

  • At least five years of construction supervisory experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in construction, engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant field experience may be considered.
  • OSHA training required.
  • Experience with EPC construction, project controls, construction technology, constructability, risk management, project management systems, and budget processes is preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, planning, conflict management, problem-solving, presentation, and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to complete applicable background, drug-screen, and motor-vehicle-record checks.
