Black & Veatch is seeking a mid-level Safety & Health Manager for a solar construction project in Lake Cormorant. The role leads project safety procedures, supports field teams, and may supervise other safety professionals.
Project Details
Safety leadership will support a solar construction project in Lake Cormorant, Mississippi, within Black & Veatch's broader power and infrastructure construction operations.
Responsibilities
- Administer project safety, health, drug and alcohol, security, and workers' compensation programs.
- Deliver employee training, perform site inspections, maintain records, and complete required safety documentation.
- Investigate incidents and injuries, prepare detailed reports, and coordinate with clients and government officials.
- Oversee contractor safety administration and provide safety, first-aid, or medical support when needed.
- Supervise, train, develop, and evaluate assigned safety interns, specialists, and other direct reports.
- Support continuous improvement and implementation of updated safety processes.
Required Experience
- At least five years of safety and health experience.
- Three or more years in a construction environment preferred.
- Safety and health certification or a bachelor's degree preferred; high school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Knowledge of construction safety standards, substance abuse policies, workers' compensation, contract administration, and safety consultation practices.
- Ability to write detailed reports, use word-processing and spreadsheet software, communicate effectively, manage conflict, and work with clients and government officials.
- Certifications listed include First Aid/CPR, drug testing certification, OSHA 500/501, Safety and Health Program Administration, and OSHA 10-hour training.
- Must be able to complete applicable background, drug-screen, and motor-vehicle-record checks during onboarding.
