Job Summary
Black & Veatch is seeking a mid-level Safety and Health Specialist Advisor to support a solar construction project in Lake Cormorant. The role maintains site safety procedures, supports project personnel, and may supervise other safety professionals.
Project Details
This position supports construction activities for a solar energy project in Mississippi, including field operations in variable weather and demanding site conditions.
Responsibilities
- Administer project safety, health, substance abuse, security, and workers' compensation programs.
- Conduct inspections, training, incident investigations, and injury or illness reporting.
- Manage contractor safety administration and coordinate with clients and government officials.
- Prepare safety and industrial hygiene analyses, reports, recommendations, and program documentation.
- Provide supervision, coaching, development, and performance management for assigned personnel.
- Perform first aid or medical support when required.
Required Experience
- At least two years of construction-environment experience and four years of safety and health experience.
- Knowledge of safety standards, substance abuse and workers' compensation procedures, construction contracting, and safety consultation practices.
- Strong communication, reporting, conflict management, organizational, and supervisory skills.
- Preferred credentials include First Aid/CPR, drug-testing certification, OSHA 500/501, Safety and Health Program Administration, and OSHA 10-hour training.
- High school diploma or equivalent and a bachelor's degree or safety and health certification are preferred.
- Must be able to work around hazardous equipment, climb ladders and scaffolds, and perform physical work in outdoor conditions and shifts of up to 12 hours.
