Lead Mechanical Superintendent - Simple/Combined Cycle

Job Summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Lead Mechanical Superintendent to direct field execution for simple-cycle and combined-cycle power generation projects. The role leads mechanical supervision, craft, subcontractors, and field coordination while supporting safe, productive, and quality-driven construction.

Project Details

Mechanical scopes include gas and steam turbines, HRSGs, balance-of-plant equipment, piping, pumps, compressors, valves, rotating equipment, rigging, equipment setting, alignment, pressure testing, turnover, and commissioning preparation.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily mechanical installation activities and coordinate craft, foremen, subcontractors, engineering, startup, commissioning, and adjacent disciplines.
• Track schedule milestones, installed quantities, productivity, cost performance, turnover priorities, and corrective actions.
• Develop look-ahead plans and confirm drawings, materials, labor, equipment, permits, lift plans, and work packages are ready.
• Manage safety planning, job hazard analyses, quality issues, punch lists, system turnover, closeout documentation, and site reporting.
• Support commercial administration, field inquiries, extra work, back charges, subcontractor compliance, and Construction Manager responsibilities as assigned.
• Coach and mentor discipline superintendents, foremen, and emerging field leaders.

Required Experience

• At least 8 years of experience as a Superintendent or Construction Manager on comparable projects.
• Experience leading mechanical work on power generation, industrial, or heavy construction projects, preferably including simple-cycle and combined-cycle facilities.
• Knowledge of mechanical sequencing, testing, system turnover, commissioning readiness, cost control, productivity reporting, and construction technology.
• Ability to coordinate diverse craft and subcontractor teams and work with civil, electrical, instrumentation and controls, startup, commissioning, and engineering groups.
• OSHA 10 certification and a valid driver's license required.
• Ability to work outdoors and in confined or elevated areas, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform physically demanding work in varied weather conditions.
