Lead Pipelayer

Job Summary

Garney is seeking a Lead Pipelayer to direct and participate in underground utility installation while supporting safe, productive, and high-quality crew operations in Pigeon Forge.

Project Details

The role focuses on water, sewer, and storm drainage utility systems using pipe such as RCP, PVC, ductile iron, and HDPE.

Responsibilities

• Lead crews performing trenching, pipe placement, alignment, joining, bedding, and backfilling.
• Read plans, grades, and laser layouts to verify installation accuracy.
• Coordinate daily assignments, monitor trench and excavation safety, and communicate progress or material needs to field leadership.
• Assist with trenching, lifting, and backfill equipment and coach less experienced crew members.

Required Experience

• At least four years of underground utility or pipelaying experience.
• One or more years in a lead or advanced pipelayer position is preferred.
• Experience with multiple pipe systems and construction drawings, grades, and laser setups.
• Knowledge of trench safety, pipe installation, and backfill requirements.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 and trench safety certification are preferred or may be obtained after hire.
• High school diploma or GED is preferred.
