Mechanical Field Engineer - Texas

Job Summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Mechanical Field Engineer for a project-only assignment supporting construction of a combined cycle power facility in Corpus Christi, Texas. The role connects engineering, field construction, subcontractors, vendors, and the client to support safe, compliant project execution.

Project Details

Support gas-fired combined cycle power generation construction, including mechanical piping, equipment installation, gas turbines, heat recovery steam generators, steam turbines, and balance-of-plant systems.

Responsibilities

• Interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, contracts, and construction requirements for field teams and subcontractors.
• Monitor subcontractor work for technical compliance and help resolve field questions and information requests.
• Coordinate with engineering, vendor representatives, OEM personnel, client teams, and the Field Subcontract Manager.
• Prepare daily reports, quantity take-offs, field estimates, invoice-support documentation, and construction drawing markups.
• Maintain project records and help keep equipment deliveries and field activities aligned with the design.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Six or more years of construction management experience on similar facility projects, with a PE license or qualifying design experience as specified by the employer.
• Experience interpreting mechanical engineering drawings, specifications, and related construction documents.
• Strong communication and organizational skills, with basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Experience with power generation construction, mechanical piping, equipment installation, cost control, scheduling, material take-offs, or contract administration is preferred.
• Ability to work in active construction environments, including confined areas, elevated locations, varying weather, and shifts of up to 12 hours.
