Job Summary

Kiewit Power Delivery Engineering is seeking a mid-level Overhead Transmission Engineer in Columbus, Ohio, to design and support utility transmission systems for projects across the United States.

Project Details

The role supports overhead transmission line work ranging from 12 kV to 500 kV, including traditional engineering design and EPC delivery for utilities and energy clients.

Responsibilities

• Engineer overhead transmission lines, including routing, structure loading, conductor selection, insulation coordination, and hardware specifications.
• Prepare and review plan and profile drawings, loading documentation, foundation loads, material lists, and construction packages.
• Model and optimize designs using PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole/Tower, SAG10, and related tools.
• Evaluate feasibility, environmental constraints, constructability, and cost considerations during early project development.
• Coordinate with civil, structural, and electrical disciplines and support design reviews, quality checks, procurement, and construction.
• Respond to RFIs, review vendor information, and help resolve field issues.

Required Experience

• Bachelor's degree in electrical, civil, or structural engineering.
• Five to seven years of overhead transmission line design experience in a utility, EPC, or consulting environment.
• Familiarity with PLS-CADD and related transmission design software.
• Knowledge of NESC, ASCE, and utility-specific standards.
• Strong collaboration and problem-solving skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and work safely.
