Project Director - Water/Wastewater

Job Summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Project Director to lead medium to large water and wastewater engineering, procurement, construction, and service projects from planning through execution. The role is based in Arlington, Virginia, with hybrid or flexible work options potentially available after the first 90 days.

Project Details

Lead municipal and government infrastructure initiatives involving water and wastewater systems, multidisciplinary project teams, engineering, procurement, construction, startup, and client coordination.

Responsibilities

• Direct project performance across cost, schedule, quality, safety, contractual compliance, and client satisfaction.
• Coordinate engineering, procurement, construction, startup, and third-party activities.
• Lead project staffing, team development, performance reviews, budgeting, invoicing, and payment activities.
• Support business development through market strategy, proposals, client presentations, budgeting, and contract development.
• Manage client relationships and collaborate with owner representatives and internal technical resources.
• Mentor team members and recommend training, promotions, and additional staffing needs.

Required Experience

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required.
• 15 or more years of active water and wastewater experience with demonstrated leadership.
• Professional Engineer license and a bachelor's degree in a technical discipline are preferred.
• Knowledge of project budgets, financial metrics, contract negotiation, pricing, risks, and payment terms.
• Ability to travel to client sites and use video and audio conferencing tools.

Compensation and Benefits

Annual compensation is $202,212-$343,752.
