Job Summary
Black & Veatch is seeking a Project Electrical Engineer to provide technical leadership and engineering execution for conventional power generation and LNG projects. This staff role supports project delivery, client coordination, quality, budgets, schedules, and mentoring within an employee-owned engineering organization.
Project Details
The position supports conventional power generation and LNG work for utilities, independent power producers, and other energy-sector clients. Projects may include complex electrical systems, equipment procurement, construction support, and site investigations.
Responsibilities
- Prepare electrical design packages, including one-line and three-line diagrams, motor and breaker control schematics, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, and equipment specifications.
- Perform load flow, short-circuit, motor-starting, arc-flash, protective-relay, and battery and charger calculations using tools such as ETAP or SKM.
- Develop bills of material, labor-hour budgets, schedules, and other project deliverables.
- Coordinate electrical work with internal disciplines, external team members, clients, and construction teams.
- Attend site meetings, evaluate existing conditions, and provide construction-phase engineering support.
- Manage assigned budget, schedule, quality, and technical requirements while reviewing work and mentoring less-experienced engineers.
- Use ProjectWise, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and electrical engineering software to manage and revise project information.
Required Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program or equivalent engineering experience.
- At least five years of related professional experience.
- Active engineering registration or licensure supporting engineer-of-record requirements where applicable.
- Advanced knowledge of electrical engineering methods, applicable codes, standards, quality procedures, and project execution practices.
- Ability to complete applicable pre-employment background, drug-screen, and motor-vehicle checks.
