Project Engineer 1 - Portland

Job Summary

JE Dunn Construction is seeking an entry-level Project Engineer 1 to support construction and field operations in the Portland area. The role provides hands-on exposure to project controls, quality, safety, self-perform work, and the building process, with a career path toward Project Engineer 2.

Responsibilities

• Support field execution, project documentation, quality planning, safety activities, inspections, and punch-list completion.
• Assist with estimating, quantity takeoffs, change management, procurement tracking, shop drawings, deliveries, and project closeout.
• Prepare daily reports, progress updates, manpower and equipment tracking, production schedules, and other project records.
• Maintain current drawings and specifications and help coordinate project meetings and communications.
• Perform site observations, monitor crews and self-perform production, and collaborate with foremen, subcontractors, superintendents, and project leadership.
• Apply construction fundamentals, company best practices, and Lean principles while developing knowledge of self-perform opportunities and labor productivity.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
• Entry-level construction experience.
• Working knowledge of construction technology, means and methods, specific trades, self-perform work, productivity, and Lean processes.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to communicate, organize work, solve problems, and collaborate effectively.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work in varying weather conditions with frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, and reaching.
