Job Summary

Barton Malow is seeking an Industrial Services Project Manager based in Oak Park, Michigan, to lead complex thermal power generation and heavy industrial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.

Project Details

The role supports thermal power generation and other heavy industrial work, including major equipment installation, industrial maintenance, outages, millwright, rigging, and boilermaker scopes. Project assignments may require extended full-time site presence for approximately 18–24 months.

Responsibilities

• Direct planning, procurement, construction, commissioning support, and closeout activities.
• Control project scope, schedule, budget, cash flow, forecasting, contracts, and change management.
• Lead project engineers, superintendents, field staff, and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Manage client, engineer, subcontractor, vendor, and regulatory relationships.
• Oversee document control, submittals, RFIs, reporting, work packaging, site logistics, and construction execution planning.
• Identify and resolve project risks while maintaining safety, quality, and operational standards.
• Support client development and future business opportunities.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related discipline.
• At least seven years of progressive industrial or commercial construction project management experience.
• Demonstrated experience with project financials, scheduling, forecasting, contract administration, and change orders.
• Leadership, negotiation, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with heavy industrial construction, self-perform operations, equipment installation, EPC, maintenance, or outage work is preferred.
• OSHA 30-Hour certification is preferred.
