Project Manager - Water/Wastewater

Job Summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Project Manager to lead water and wastewater infrastructure work in the Virginia market. This full-time role supports client development, project delivery, financial performance, and team leadership within a large engineering and construction organization.

Project Details

The position manages multi-million-dollar water-related infrastructure projects for municipalities, government agencies, and other public-sector clients. Work is based in Richmond with hybrid or flexible options potentially available after the initial 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Lead marketing, business development, proposals, client presentations, budgeting, and contract pursuits.
• Manage client relationships and support market and account strategies.
• Oversee engineering managers, project teams, performance goals, budgets, invoicing, payments, and project reviews.
• Coordinate with owners and internal teams throughout project execution.
• Mentor staff and recommend training, promotions, and team development initiatives.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required.
• Preferred background includes 15 or more years in water and wastewater work with leadership experience in Virginia.
• A technical bachelor’s degree and Professional Engineering License are preferred.
• Knowledge of project budgets, financial metrics, contract terms, risk, pricing, and payment conditions is preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

Annual compensation is $129,680-$220,450. Benefits may include company-matched 401(k), adoption reimbursement, insurance, pre-tax accounts, vendor discounts, credit union access, and a performance-based bonus program.
