Job Summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Resident Project Representative to serve as the Owner's on-site liaison on a water infrastructure project in Kansas City, Kansas. This role sits within the BV Construction group and is responsible for day-to-day field oversight, quality assurance, and communication between the Owner, general contractor, and design team.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Owner's daily on-site representative, monitoring construction progress and safety conditions.
  • Facilitate communications between the construction team (GC and subs) and the engineer of record.
  • Organize and chair regular job progress meetings; prepare and distribute agendas and meeting notes.
  • Review, certify, and file field testing reports including water pipe pressure tests, hydrostatic tank tests, concrete pre-pour documentation, and third-party lab reports.
  • Document construction activity through daily photos, including conditions that will not be visible after completion.
  • Monitor building permit status, confirm required inspections occur, and verify certificates of occupancy are obtained.
  • Review and certify GC pay applications, verifying earned value and accuracy of all line items.
  • Evaluate, review, and process Potential Change Orders and Change Orders for completeness, accuracy, and cost reasonableness.
  • Assist in processing and tracking Requests for Information and submittals between the GC and design team.

Required Experience

  • 5+ years of construction management experience with a degree, or 8+ years without.
  • Preferred: BS in Civil Engineering with 10+ years of experience, including at least 3 years in a field construction role.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety and Health training required.
  • Experience in a project engineer or construction management role with a general contractor is a plus.
  • Must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding including background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search.
