Safety & Health Manager - BESS - GA

Job Summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Safety & Health Manager to lead safety implementation on a battery energy storage system project in Newnan, Georgia. This mid-level role supports a complex construction site and may supervise other safety professionals.

Project Details

The position is assigned to a BESS construction project and involves working in a demanding industrial construction environment with exposure to heavy equipment, hazardous conditions, weather, and extended shifts.

Responsibilities

• Implement project safety, health, substance abuse, security, and workers’ compensation programs.
• Deliver employee training, conduct site inspections, and investigate incidents and injuries.
• Prepare safety records, reports, and required program documentation.
• Coordinate with contractors, clients, government officials, and internal stakeholders.
• Supervise and develop safety interns and Safety & Health Specialists.
• Provide first aid or medical support when required and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Experience

• At least five years of safety and health experience.
• Construction safety experience and battery energy storage experience are preferred.
• Safety and health certification and a bachelor’s degree are preferred; a high school diploma or equivalent is also preferred.
• Listed credentials include First Aid/CPR, drug testing certification, OSHA 500/501, Safety and Health Program Administration, and OSHA 10-hour training.
• Ability to write detailed reports, use word processing and spreadsheet software, and communicate effectively with clients and public officials.
• Ability to work physically in construction settings, including lifting up to 50 pounds and working extended shifts in varied weather and temperatures.
