Senior Design Manager, Industrial Manufacturing Construction

Job Summary

JE Dunn is seeking a Senior Design Manager in Dallas to lead design management and engineering coordination for industrial and manufacturing construction projects from early planning through startup and completion.

Project Details

The role supports projects that may include advanced technology and high-tech manufacturing facilities, process planning, permitting, equipment procurement, installation, HVAC upgrades, process equipment, and structural modifications. Work involves coordination across architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, process, civil, and other technical disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Lead design teams, consultants, trade partners, clients, and internal project stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
• Manage design scope, schedules, budgets, document control, quality reviews, risk identification, and change management.
• Interpret design-build requests for proposals, develop execution plans, support conceptual proposals, and coordinate design packaging.
• Guide permitting, equipment selection, design reviews, construction support, and technical problem-solving.
• Establish design budgets and fees, manage consultant contracts, and monitor design partner performance and deliverables.
• Lead client meetings, business development efforts, design partner selection, and coordination with project executives and VDC teams.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, or a related field.
• At least 10 years of design and/or construction management experience preferred.
• Experience carrying conceptual designs through construction and coordinating multiple engineering disciplines and trades.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD, Revit, and/or Google SketchUp.
• Knowledge of U.S. building codes, material standards, Lean processes, project budgets, and construction delivery methods.
• Industrial, advanced technology, high-tech manufacturing, Front End Loading, planning, or Lean Construction experience is preferred.
• Valid and unrestricted driver’s license required.
