Senior Project Engineer - Commercial Construction

Job Summary

JE Dunn Construction is seeking a Senior Project Engineer in Nashville to manage defined portions of commercial construction projects, supporting project administration, field execution, quality, safety, scheduling, and closeout activities.

Project Details

The role may oversee a small commercial project or an assigned component of a larger, more complex project, working across office and active job-site environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop estimates, scopes of work, change requests, procurement logs, schedules, and project documentation.
• Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, materials, submittals, inspections, meetings, and owner-architect-contractor communications.
• Track manpower, production, equipment, costs, quality, and schedule performance for assigned work.
• Review subcontractor and vendor pay applications and manage project risks, including performance and resource allocation.
• Support safety, quality assurance, Lean construction, self-perform planning, and field observations.
• Lead punch-list and closeout activities, including inspections, as-builts, and operations and maintenance documentation.
• Train and mentor team members while building effective relationships with project staff and trade partners.

Required Experience

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
• At least three years of construction experience.
• Working knowledge of construction means and methods, project processes, specific trades, labor productivity, and Lean practices.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, project management and accounting software, and construction technology.
• Ability to communicate effectively, collaborate across teams, lead production goals, and optimize project productivity.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and work in office and project-site environments.
